Reebok Ribcor 30k

by: Turner Zajac

There are many different types of hockey skates out there, and it’s true that you tend to like the ones you’ve used in the past, but I firmly recommend anyone trying to find a new pair of skates to check out Reebok’s  hockey skates and if you’re willing to go the extra mile, check out the new RibCor 30k.

The Reebok RibCor 30k hockey skate seems to be helping Reebok come back into the limelight of things.  It seems this skate was made to give the player increased agility with its lightweight frame and overall more mobility. With it’s amazing features and a couple new added features, this skate is also priced at a very affordable price that I feel others can’t beat.

Specs

Designed to enhance players agility with new Ribcor lightweight material, here are a couple of the specs that are not completely new. Below you will see a table with some of the features and a short description saying what it is these skates have.

  • Heat Moldable
  • Quarter Package
  • Heel Support
  • Ankle Padding
  • Tendon Guard
  • Lining Material
  • Tongue
  • Footbed
  • Outsole
  • Blade Holder
  • Runner
  • Weight - 31.11 oz

A lot of these features nothing new, but the greatest and latest about this skate which I have mentioned before is the new material, the Ribcor technology places ribs in key flex areas of your skate. Which help the skate flex and created more support and agility such like a running shoe. Along with that we have a new style of blade from Reebok, which they are calling the SpeedBlade 4.0. This place is supposedly a finer cut and a little bit more flexible than  most blades, this allows you to turn sharper and stop even faster. Speaking on personal experience, I have yet to be able to tell the difference with the new speedblade, it seems just like the last pair of Reebok skates that I owned. You can feel the different in the Ribcor Technology though and that's what I think make this skate such an awesome pick up. You can tell how flexible the shoe actually is and you feel like you have more control and movement while skating.

Design

I've delved into the design a little bit in the other sections, but for the most part all of the design ascetics resemble the past. These skate still sport the famous pump for comfort and have the lace locking system which keeps your laces nice and tight. Where they differ are the speedblade 4.0 and the RibCor core, and as I stated before these features do make for a better comfort and more enjoyable skate. You can really feel the difference when you're skating.

 Fit

Whether you're new to hockey skates or a veteran, it's not surprise that Reebok has always been there with the most comfortable out of the box fitting. For those reading this that haven't tried on hockey stakes, I'd say with other skates it might take you a couple weeks to fully break them in, but with these it's almost instant. And the new RibCor fabric just adds that much more to comfort right out of the box.

Now if you are getting an older pair, it still might be a little uncomfortable your first couple times, but this is where the pump system comes in. If you're familiar with Reebok skates then it's  no new feature, but if you're just getting started, these pumps act as fluffing almost, an insulation mechanic to created space between your ankle/leg and the skate.

Overall

To summarize; even if you're a beginner at skating and or you're an expert and have been skating for years, these skates are perfect for all levels. They are the best I've ever owned right out of the box and it felt as if they were already worn in when  I first skated with them. With the new RibCor Core technology you can feel the flexibility of the boot and out of experience I can strongly say that it does indeed help with your overall agility and tightness on turns.

Since this is a new model they do come a little bit pricey, but it's really reasonable compared to other skates on the market. here is a link to a excellent price on these skates, and if you're still not sure if you want to spend that much, but want to test out Reebok skates, I would suggest these Reebok 24k skates.

  1. Genre: Your review meets the expectations for the genre and provides everything that the reader needs to know. Something that I really like about your genre is that you comment about how long it takes to break in a new pair of skates for people who may not have ever tried on or owned a pair of skates in their life.

Organization: I think that the overall organization of your review is natural and not jumbled at all. Something that I think may be beneficial is to maybe expand on a few of the key specs of the skate and explain them a little more- this would also help you lengthen your review.

Voice: The voice that you use in your review is appropriate for this review and therefore I was drawn into what you had to say in your review.

Headings: Your headings are very clear and concise. Maybe think about changing the "spec" heading to "specs". Other than that they look great and create a scannable webpage.

Visuals and Hypertext: The photo is beneficial, table is easy to read, links are accurate.

First hand use: Yes, it is clear that you have used this product as you mention this a few times in your review. I think that this is helpful as then the reader can take your advice because you have actually used this product and rely on it.

  2. I feel like more is needed here: what else gets added? More pictures?

  3. Good headings and organization, need links and another image. Casual tone. Add first hand knowledge

  4. More pictures would be nice. I would change the table to bullet points to make it "flow" a little better; it just looks awkward to me in the middle of the page. Maybe add a little bit more of your personal experience with the product?? that would make it a little more personal. Also, maybe add a little bit more of your opinion on the specs other than the pump. I would comment on more specific aspects of the fit and such.

Overall, it's good. I just feel it could use some extra information.
