Beats Studio Wireless Headphones Review

Advantages: The Bluetooth, hands-free aspect of the headphones has great connectivity and makes for a more powerful audio experience. The sound quality and noise cancellation technology is excellent.

Disadvantages: They are extremely overpriced and somewhat uncomfortable after wearing for long periods of time.

Performance
The Beats Studio Wireless Headphones' most important feature that makes them stand out from other brands in the genre of headphones in terms of performance is its Bluetooth capability and technology. With its slogan "feel the music, not the wires" you can be sure you won't have to deal with tangled clumps of wires stuffed in your pocket ever again. Thanks to its Digital Signal Processor (DSP), you are able to walk around your neighborhood, campus, town, etc. while making cell phone calls with its built in microphone and wireless headset. After syncing up your phone with the Bluetooth to the headphones, you are free to walk around with a reasonable distance from your phone. Not having to carry your phone with you around the gym while working out is a great feature thanks to the strong Bluetooth connectivity. In fact, the Bluetooth stays connected within about a 30 feet range give or take a little, which I'd say is fairly impressive. Not to mention the fact that the wires are out of the way.

The noise cancellation is excellent which makes for an over average sound quality experience thanks to Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology. However, one negative I have found with sound quality is that the bass is too deep and often inflated and amplified beyond what even most "bass lovers" would enjoy. Despite the intense bass, the re-engineered sound of these headphones compared to its older 2013 model called Beats Solo is enhanced and improved.

The sticker clearly shows the controls.

Another positively enhancing feature of these headphones is that you have the ability to change the volume and song right from the headphones. The controls are located on the sides of the headphones for easy access. A sticker comes on the brand new headphones showing the location of the buttons which include volume, skipping songs, and connecting to Bluetooth. Once you know the location of the buttons, you can easily peel off the sticker.

Design & Comfort
It isn’t hard to spot the Beats by Dre “b” logo on the sides of every headphone model, along with the glossy and polished plastic band that fits over the ears. Although the band includes a small layer of soft padding with the intentions of a snug, comfortable fit around the head, after wearing the headphone over an hour it begins to feel tight and tense around the skull. Luckily, you can adjust the band to be more loose or more tight around the head for a better fit.

Beats headphones have always had a unique and sleek look to them that is easy to spot. The trademark "b" on the sides is mainly what identifies a Beats headphone as part of the Beats family.

The Beats Studio Wireless Headphones come in a color combination of black, gray, white, blue, or red.

Battery Life
Micro USB plugged into the outlet.
The Beats Studio Wireless Headphones have a rechargeable battery that can last all the way up to 12 hours of use when using them wirelessly. You can actually prevent wasting any additional battery life and energy by using the Auto On/Off feature that will turn the headphones off. To charge the headphones, you simply plug in and charge up using a micro USB, which can be plugged in almost anywhere.

Additional Accessories
A plethora of Beats accessories and goodies are included in the purchase of the headphones. This includes a Beats logo sticker that one may put on their refrigerator or lap top and a carabiner that also includes the infamous "b" logo. Additionally, if purchased, you would receive the micro USB cable, two audio wires, and a wall adapter. Lastly, a soft and cushioned zip up case is provided to carry your headphones in.

Price
Depending on exactly what store or online site you plan on buying these headphones from, you can expect a hefty price of about $379.95, which is the exact price found on the official Beats by Dre website. You can find them slightly cheaper on Amazon. The Bluetooth technology is what ups the ante from the original 2013 model Beats by Dre headphones, which run about $169.00.

For these hefty prices, Beats Studio Wireless Headphones are not exactly considered a bargain. Despite their effective performance due to Bluetooth technology, they have no other significant feature that should make them so expensive.

Final Thoughts
From my experience with these headphones, I found the comfort level and design features to be average and the sound quality (which includes noise cancellation) to be exceptional. They are a great quality pair of headphones with Bluetooth technology that sets them apart from other products in the genre of headphones, and I enjoy them thoroughly. But if you're looking to save big bucks on a slightly above average pair of headphones, look elsewhere and consider other options.

  1. I feel that what is written so far very well fits within the genre. It is short, to the point, and brings up all the main details of the product. I think that the price point should be brought down to the bottom as people may be automatically turned off from the review if they read the price details first. The voice seems conversational and personable which is a good fit for the review. I liked all of the headings as they brought the main detail forward and made the article easy to skim. I feel that the large font size of the "advantages" and "disadvantages" throws the balance of the headings off but since this is a rough draft its understandable that the sizing may have been mixed before "publishing." The pictures go well and there was no hypertextual links, but I am not sure the review entirely needs it as there wouldn't be a lot to go to view. A reader can tell that the author has used them before based on the way they talk about the fit, comfort, and performance. This is helpful as it gives a first hand account of actually wearing the headphones instead of just showing the cool features and talking about the audio.

  2. Red text is a bit striking for this page. Consider just using black. I'd encourage further description of your actual use -- audiophiles might look to this to understand whether these provide excellent sound quality. Perhaps review what criteria other examples in your genre use to evaluate headphones...

  3. I think that this covers the genre perfectly. You include multiple headings that cover the different aspects of the product and include in-depth analysis that give the reader a good idea of the quality of the product. One thing that I think you might want to add is an overall rating of the product, because most reviews that I have seen give an overall score and a little explanation as to why they decided on that. I do like the advantages and disadvantages heading though, this gives readers a quick overview of the pros and cons.

I think the organization could use a little work, just in the order of your headings. Maybe put the price more toward the end of the review, so as not to scare people off before they know what the headphones are all about.

The voice was very appropriate. Somewhat formal yet still conversational, it combines elements that make it an easy to read review that includes more detailed analysis of the product.

The headings are good, like I mentioned earlier you might want to include an overall rating and maybe a summary of what/why your verdict was the way it was.

Good visuals so far, Only suggestion is to make them more cohesive within the flow of the review, maybe combine them into a collage since they are all basically the same picture, just with different colors. I do like that you included all the colors though, the design and look of headphones is an important part of the product and by showing all the colors you enhance the review a lot.

From reading the review, I would say that you definitely have first-hand experience wearing and using the product. It is very helpful and appropriate for the review, since this is a product that needs these aspects reviewed.

  4. I think you have a great start on this review! There isn't much on other headphones to compare it to in the genre except for the different edition of the headphones. So if you could include that, that could be nice. The organization is very nice, it flows well down the page and it was easy to read. I also like the use of the graphics that you had to help people visualize what the headphones actually look like. The tone in voice that you used was great. It was very professional but also a little fun, which made it easier to read. I also thought that your opinion was very clean and didn't over power the actual review of the product. You had great use of the headings and if I wanted to come find a specific thing about the product it would be easy to find. Again, great use of visuals and they are placed in great spots throughout the text.
