Fitbit Flex Review

Introduction

The Fitbit Flex is a fitness band designed to allow you to make an easy adjustment to your lifestyle by paying more attention to your fitness.   The Fitbit Flex tracks your steps, distance, and calories burned during your day. It also has the capability to track your sleep during the night. It fits comfortably around your wrist so you can easily wear it day-in and day-out.

What Fitbit Flex Tracks:
·         Steps taken
·         Calories burned
·         Distance traveled
·         Very active minutes
·         Time asleep
·         Number of times awoken

Indicator lights: The Fitbit Flex uses five LED indicator lights on its screen to show you progress in the steps walked to your daily goal. Each light shown represents 20% of your

·         Instructions

Color: The Fitbit Flex comes in a variety of colors including: Black, red, pink, lime, blue, violet, navy, teal, tangerine, and slate.
Size:      Small Band: 5.5”-6.9”
                Large Band: 6.3”-8.2”
                Width: .6 inches
Battery: Rechargeable lithium-polymer battery
Memory: Fitbit Flex holds memory for up to 30 days of daily activities.
Design: The Fitbit Flex has a very simple design, while managing to keep it looking tasteful.
The band:  very slim, made of rubber, and is a lightweight fitness band with the ability to adjust. When purchased it comes with two different bands both a small and a large to reach a larger amount of buyers. The small band measures 5.5”-6.9”, whereas the larger band measures 6.3”-8.2”.
Colors: variety of colors that would appeal to many different individuals.
Feel: extremely comfortable and being that it is lightweight it makes you forget that it is even on your wrist.  The tracker itself fits into a part in the band that does get a tiny bit bulker.
Display: the only thing that is displayed is the five tracker lights that show your progress to your daily step goal.
Durability: I have had the Fitbit Flex for about four months now and it has been banged up routinely, dirtied up at the sand volleyball courts, and has even enjoyed a few accidental showers with me.  Being through all of that and still working 100% correct and without any scratches or dings I would say that this band is extremely durable.

Battery:  The amount of battery life that they tell you that you will get is about five days. From my personal experience I would say that I get about 3-4 days depending on how many times I tap the band to see my steps progress on a specific day.   It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the battery up once it is dead which is not bad at all.
Cons: one thing that I do not like about the actual Fitbit Flex band is that it does not display your battery life anywhere on the band itself. You have to check the application on your phone, so if you do not have your phone near you, you will not know the amount of battery that you have left.  Another thing that is kind of a drag is that you cannot plug the battery right into the wall to charge it, instead you need a USB port

Software: The Fitbit Flex application is very easy to use and the dashboard is where you where you can quickly access your daily steps, miles, calories burned, active minutes, and sleep tracked. One thing that is somewhat frustrating is the struggle to get the band into sleep mode. It requires you to tap rapidly for a few seconds before the band turns into and out of sleep mode but it doesn’t always work and it would be a lot easier if there was a button of some sort that we could press signaling that we were entering sleep mode.  One great thing that the FitBit Flex provides for you is the visuals of the data collected throughout the day. The dashboard shows graphs of sleep patterns, when in the day you have the most active minutes and also when the most steps were taken on a specific day.

Price: $99
Conclusion: Overall I think that the Fitbit Flex does a good job at what it was meant to do for a fitness enthusiast. The price of one currently is $99 with a one year warranty which seems pretty reasonable for what you can get out of it if you choose to utilize all of its functions. It has definitely added in my personal fitness goals and is a fun way to make sure you are being active enough to hit your end goal for a day, a week, or even a month.
