Blue Wilderness Review

What should you feed your four-legged best friend?

When it comes to finding the best dog food for your four-legged companion, it can be difficult. There are hundreds of dog foods that claim to be the best or the most beneficial, but which one is actually the BEST?

The problem with finding the best dog food is all brands claim the same thing; that they are the most beneficial and it will list all the ways that it is. The trouble is there are no FDA regulations when it comes to advertisement of dog food. These companies do not have to prove that their food does what they claim; they can put anything on the label regardless if it is truthful or not.

When looking at reviews it's hard to know who to trust. Do you trust the customers or the robotic voice giving in great detail the breakdown of the ingredients and how it is made. I am here to show a simpler way to make sure the food you are giving your pet is the best. I will also give my recommendation as to which product I choose and why.

The first think you should look for are the ingredients in the product. You want ingredients that help support or build a dogs immune system. The following set of ingredients are beneficial to a pet's specific life stage requirements. These are the types of ingredients you should be looking for in your pets food.

  • Kelp
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin C
  • Beta Carotene
  • Vitamin A
  • Blueberries
  • Barley Grass
  • Alfalfa
  • Flaxseed
  • Parsley
  • Vitamin C
  • Cranberries
  • Meat (Not bone or meat meal)
You want to look at products that contain ingredients that can help protect a pet’s changing needs from youth through his mature years. These include:
  • Omega 3 and Omega 6 Fatty Acids for healthy skin and coat
  • Yucca Schidigera Extract for joint health
  • Taurine for healthy eyes and heart
  • L-Lysine for growth and development
  • Vitamin D for healthy bones and tissue
  • Vitamin B12 for growth
  • L-Carnitine for endurance and fat metabolism
Blue Wilderness meets the ingredient criteria I have listed above. When it comes to looking for a good dog food the ingredients is the most important aspect of the food to look at. Do NOT go based on the little labels on the front of the package that claim "High Protein" "Great Health Benefits" you must look at the actual ingredient list to determine if the food will benefit your pet.

Blue Wilderness contains ingredients such as:
  • Delicious, protein-rich, Deboned Bison
  • None of the grains that contain gluten
  • The finest natural ingredients including antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables
  • NO chicken (or poultry) by-product meals and no corn, wheat or soy
If you look at other brand name dog foods such as Purina you are able to see it does not meet the nutritional standards as Blue Wilderness. The first ingredient in Purina dog food is corn. Corn is inexpensive and of only modest nutritional value to a dog. The second ingredient is meat and bone meal; a rendered product from mammal tissues, including bone. This ingredient is very difficult for animals to digest and can result in stomach and digestive tract issues.

Purina makes a brand of food called Beneful. At first look this product seems great; it claims to have great vitamins, minerals and proteins, everything your pet would love but further look into the product you will find that it has been known to cause harm to animals. There are a number of customers that have claimed this product caused their pet to have seizures, vomit and even death. I had my dog on Beneful for months because I did not look into the product before buying. It was a cheaper brand and it claimed a lot of great benefits. My dog would vomit at least twice a month, she had very little to no energy, troubles with digestion and would almost refuse to eat the product. After further review from my vet and personal research I would never feed my dog this brand again.

I switched my now one-year old German Shephard/Husky mix to Blue Wilderness. After switching to Blue Wilderness she is a much happier and healthier dog. She hasn't vomited since I switched her nor has she had any sort of complications when it comes to her digestion. She has plenty of energy!

When it comes to looking for a product with the most benefits, look at the ingredients. Make sure the product contains ingredients that are most beneficial. Also take a look as to where the product is made. Dog foods made in the U.S. are a better choice for your four-legged friend.

  1. Listen to my comments on the genre analysis. My worry here is that dog owners aren't only interested in detailed ingredient lists. Isn't the genre more than that? Do you need to compare this with other foods? How would I know to buy this versus something else? More evaluation needed perhaps...
